The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Backlash Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms. It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction. Sizing System Updates Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said. Required Changes Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
